BERLIN (Reuters) – German Chancellor Olaf Scholz sacked his Finance Minister Christian Lindner on Wednesday after weeks of wrangling over the longer term financial course of the federal government, two sources advised Reuters.
Newspaper Bild had earlier reported that Lindner had proposed early elections as an answer to the deadlock, a proposal Scholz had rejected.
Scholz’s workplace invited reporters for a information briefing at 2115 native time (2015 GMT).
