Marijuana is legal in Arizona and you can buy it from more than 100 dispensaries, in case you’re in town for a big football or golf event and were just, you know, wondering.
Anyone at least 21 years old can possess up to an ounce of marijuana. All you need is a drivers license and cash. The shops have ATMs.
The closest dispensary to State Farm Stadium, where the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs will meet in Super Bowl 57, is Ponderosa Dispensary, two miles north of the stadium.
Pennsylvania, home to the Eagles, only allows medical marijuana, and doesn’t even want those patients smoking the stuff. Missouri, home to the Chiefs, just launched recreational sales this month.
A Curaleaf dispensary on North Greenway Hayden Loop is closest to TPC Scottsdale, where the WM Phoenix Open is played. There are a few others in the area.

What are the rules for marijuana use in Arizona?
Smoking marijuana in public still is prohibited in Arizona. Many marijuana users seem to heed that law about as well as most people avoid jaywalking or speeding.
Considering both venues allow smoking tobacco in certain areas it seems those rules will get tested, but at nearly $6,000 for a “cheap” ticket to the Super Bowl, getting tossed from the game over a $15 joint seems risky.
Neither venue specifically lists marijuana as prohibited, and the Phoenix Open calls itself “the greatest show on grass,” which may feel like an invitation to the cannabis inclined.
There’s a planned “Consumption Park” near the stadium Friday through Sunday that might be a safer bet, but it will cost $85 and up to get in. Details are at www.consumptionpark.com.
Visitors also might want to consider how much they buy while in town because you’re still not allowed to bring it home on planes or across state lines.
